Wintertime

In the light of wintertime is a short, short sun

Knows your heart by name
Sets you apart from everyone

Sidewalk shines like ice
With each step you’d best think twice
The doubter’s demise, help me lord almighty

Cold snow is on the ground
And cold snow is falling down
Cold hearts pass by along the way

Wintertime has a blessing in mind
Won’t you breathe in evergreen
A song to sing on Christmas day

In  the light of wintertime stands a tree laid bare
He was a twisted old man, whoever dug a hole for you there
In the January of the mind stands the isolated soul
In the white of the child’s backyard a touch of this heavenly cold

Church bells used to ring
Now birds refuse to sing
Windows so closed you can’t feel a thing

Wintertime has a blessing in mind
Won’t you breathe in evergreen
A song to sing on Christams day

Wintertime has a blessing in mind
